    Month: May 2015

On Sunday June 14 at 5:30 Sunday Night At The Opera returns with “June Is Bustin’ Out All Over”, an evening devoted to musical theatre of all styles and ages.

Sunday Night At The Opera is a regular feature of Stellina, highlighting the musical talents of the singers and musicians of Boston-based Opera-On-Tap. Every cast and program that they present is unique, covering the entire range of operatic, classical and theatrical music, and they have never failed to thrill our audiences. A three-course dinner is presented in tandem with the music.

Broadway aficionados will know that the title “June Is Bustin’ Out All Over” refers to one of the hit songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s landmark 1940’s musical Carousel. But this program is about more than just the old classics of the Great White Way. Opera-On-Tap will present a broad range of theatre pieces, drawing from Broadway, London’s West End and even some of the newer up-and-coming composers of Off-Broadway.

Leading our cast of singers will be OOT soprano Abigail Krawson, who has starred in so many of our evenings. Also returning will be baritone Nathan Rodriguez, soprano Erin Anderson and the wonderful Sally VanderPloeg on piano. We are also very excited to welcome a  newcomer, sopranos Teresa Winner Blume.

In keeping with the mostly-American flavor of the evening, our menu will be drawn not from Tuscany or Rome, but from the classics of the Italian-American cuisine. Old school, but with a New World lilt.

We’ll start off with platters of Antipasto, including fresh mozzarella, Tuscan cannellini bean salad and grilled summer vegetables. All these will be served with some of our delicious potato foccacia.

The main courses, served family-style, will consist of three old-time favorites: fresh Fusilli with Broccoli, Seafood Scampi and a low-fat version of the ever-popular Chicken Parmigiana.  And for dessert? We’ll bring back one of our most popular recipes from past Opera Nights, our own homemade Spumoni with Claret Sauce.

Sunday Night at the Opera is $48 per person, including all food and entertainment. Reservations are required. Call 617-924-9475 or go to the reservation page of this website.
