Finish 2015 on a high note on Sunday December 27 at 5:30 as SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE OPERA celebrates with our annual HOLIDAY PARTY! It’s a perfect time to relax with friends, children and grandchildren, while enjoying Grand Opera and an Italian dinner.

While it might be icy cold outside, inside our dining room the temperature will be HOT, HOT, HOT. That’s because the theme of the evening is ITALIAN VERISMO OPERA.

The theme of this evening is “Verismo”, that style of Opera typified by the emotional outpourings of Puccini, Leoncavallo, Mascagni and Giordano. It’s the passion of the lovers Mimi and Rodolfo echoing in the snowy streets of Paris, of Cio Cio San awaiting the return of Pinkerton, and the tragic lament of the clown Pagliacci.

And now for something really special….

One of the highlights of this past season was a searing performance of the Final Scene from Bizet’s Carmen, sung by the hot young tenor Ethan Bremner and one of our most popular singers, Mezzo Gina Razon. Their turn as Carmen and Don Jose in one of the world’s most popular operas brought the audience to their feet, and they’ve agreed to an encore this December. Don’t miss it.

Rounding out the cast will be soprano Chelsea Beatty Lewis, Pianist Jessica Rucinski and newcomer soprano Haily Fuqua.

Our evening will also include a three-course dinner served family-style in an informal setting. In keeping with the music, the entire meal will be based on Italian regional classics.

We start off with a warming Wild Mushroom Torta, served with a mesclun salad.

Then the waiters will bring out platters of three different dishes: 1. Christmas Chicken (sauteed breasts with Piccata sauce, dried tomatoes and a snowshower of Ricotta Salata cheese. 2. Fresh Pasta tossed with roasted vegetables. 3. Gloucester Haddock served Roman-style in a traditional sweet-and-sour sauce.

And for dessert, a warm slice of baked Panettone bread pudding.

Cost for Opera Night is $49 per person, including all food and entertainment. Reservations are required. Call 617-924-9475 or go to the reservation page of this website.
