SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE OPERA ushers in a new year on SUNDAY FEBRUARY 9 at 5:30 with a presentation of a program entitled “A NIGHT IN VIENNA!”
It’s a perfect fit. Combine the bubbly waltzes of Johann Strauss, the romantic melodies of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and serenades of Franz Lehar, presented as always by the able singers of Boston’s Opera-On-Tap, add a perfectly seasoned Stellina menu, and you have the recipe for an elegant evening.
Austria and its capital city Vienna are in many minds synonymous with outstanding classical and popular music. The names of the composers who either were native to the country or resided in its cities includes many of the greatest of all times, including Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, Schubert, Berg, Mahler and the extended Mozart and Strauss families.
The evening’s program will draw on this wealth of material. From the effervescent Czardas of Die Fledermaus to the solemn tones of The Magic Flute, it will indeed have something for everyone. OPERA-ON-TAP is a group of professional singers and musicians based in Boston. Under the supervision of our Resident Diva, Mezzo Soprano Gina Razon, each cast designs, rehearses and performs a completely unique program comprised of a mixture of classical opera, musicals and song.
ABOUT OPERA-ON-TAP:
“FOR SOME, OPERA MAY SEEM DULL, ANTIQUATED, OR UPTIGHT, BUT ANYONE WHO HAS ATTENDED AN OPERA ON TAP EVENT MAY BEG TO DIFFER.”
– THE BOSTON GLOBE
The evening will follow our usual format, with three sets of live music interrupted only by three courses of first-class cuisine, served family style in an informal atmosphere.
