YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO JOIN US FOR OUR FOURTH ANNUAL OPERA NIGHT HOLIDAY PARTY ON WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 28 at 6:30.
Why, you may ask, have we chosen this particular date? Based on our previous experience, we’ve found that the period in between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is the perfect time for a Gala event. The brunt of the holidays have passed, and most folks need to pamper themselves, relax, and enjoy a party where someone else does the cooking, cleaning and entertaining.
As always the singers and pianists of Boston’s OPERA-ON-TAP/BOSTON are hard at work planning and rehearsing another of their exciting programs. The Holiday Party offers a mixture of classic and modern, opera and musicals, old favorites and perhaps something unexpected.
For newcomers to Stellina’s Opera Nights, the following is a sampling of the entertainment offered. This is just a partial listing of the program from our 2015 Holiday Party. Note that it’s essentially a Greatest Hits of Opera compilation:
“Chi Bel Sogno” from La Rondine (Puccini)- Hailey Fuqua
“O Soave Fanciulla” from La Boheme (Puccini)- Chelsea Beatty and Ethan Bremner
“Stride le vampa” from Il Trovatore (Verdi)- Gina Razon
“E lucevan le stelle” from Tosca (Puccini)- Ethan Bremner
“Sempre libera” from La Traviata (Verdi)- Chelsea Beatty
“Vesti la giubba” from I Pagliacci (Leoncavallo)- Ethan Bremner
“Caro nome” from Rigoletto (Verdi)- Hailey Fuqua
“Butterfly Duet” from Madama Butterfly (Puccini)-
Chelsea Beatty and Gina Razon
In between the three sets of vocal music we will serve a three-course menu, presented as always family-style. This being the holidays the meal takes on a more festive theme.
We’ll start with an old favorite, the Alsatian Tarte Flambee, or “Flaming Pie”, a pizza topped with sweet onions, farmer’s cheese and smoked bacon.
Main courses will include Frutti di Mare, a melange of the best local seafood tossed with a zesty tomato sauce and fresh pasta. Also Chicken Valdostana; boneless breasts baked with kale, white wine and fontina cheese. And a steaming platter of Cheese Polenta smothered with Exotic Mushrooms.
And for dessert? If it’s Christmas in an Italian restaurant, it’s time for Panettone. Warm slices of sweet cake dripping with warm fruit sauce and creamy Zabaglione. What could be better?
The cost for Opera Night Holiday Party is $55 per person. Reservations are required. Please call 617-924-9475 or go to the reservation page of this website.
